and Spinalonga on one side and Agios Nikolaos and the Gulf of Mirabello on the 
other. The chapel in the 'saddle' of Oxa is called Timios Stavros, the Holy 
Cross. There is a celebration here on September the 14th; the raising of Timios 
Stavros. When viewed from Elounda Oxa looks quite intimidating but it is a 
relatively straightforward climb which can be done in less than 2 hours. In fact 
with a suitable vehicle you can drive to within 30 minutes of the summit (but 
that would be cheating!).</FONT></FONT><BR><BR><IMG height=300 alt="" hspace=0
