Notice Board
31/10/08: I'm 'en France', Christine in the UK. Good break in
Elounda but weather disappointing (see photo on home page!) Sold the Aprilia so
the pic is my last ride out, I'll miss it so take care of it Ian. Got lots of
pics and saw lots of friends, cheers everyone.
29/09/08:
We're off to Elounda for 12 days so a chance to renew friendships and get some
piccies with Christine's new
camera.
13/08/08: Back to the UK
for bike service and MOT and hopefully to catch a Burnley game. Hope it stays
dry as I'm riding there.
28/06/08: I'm back but
Christine isn't and she is missing the great weather we're having here whilst
it's crap in the UK. Flaming June eh? (in both contexts). I shouldn't have said
our broadband is more settled as it has become a bit erratic again. I should be
back in the UK sometime in August but in the meantime I'll be enjoying the
solitude of La Grenarderie (tho' I do get out to Motobreaks for a few beers with
the lads, oh and down to Le Chene Vert to catch up on Euro 2008 - come on
Espana!)
03/06/08: Christine
is off to the UK to help her mum so will miss her first French summer (if it
ever comes!). I will be making a brief visit for a few days. This should give me
more time to devote to the website. Also our broadband seems more settled now
but bandwidth is still a problem. We will revisit Crete, possibly this year to
catch up on good friends (and to get some sun). As I keep saying, send in your
pics of Crete for the Piccy of the month page. I'll probably do something
similar for my French pages so the same applies.
29/04/08: The 'Piccy of
the week' has had to become the 'Piccy of the month' as I'm short on
contributions so anyone out there with pics of Crete please send them.
Christine's mum is poorly so we may not get back to Crete this year as planned.
Shame about the weather at Greek Easter, it was warmer here in France than
Elounda (not now of course)!
15/04/08: Check out our
new home in France, La Grenarderie.
28/03/08: We're online but with limited broadband
access, ie. 1Mb and that is when it's working which so far means up to about 8pm
when we seem to lose it. At least I should be able to update more often but I
still need people to send me their pics of Crete etc.
04/03/08: We're
still not online but we're getting there. We now have our own place in France
and have a phone line so broadband is our next priority. We've moved in
and are decorating the farm a room at a time, pics will appear later. We're in
the UK at the moment having just been to Glyn and Pam's (ex Oasis bar and now
running the shop opposite the Ferryman) wedding at Chadderton, congrats to them
both. We're also going to Steve and Elaine's (ex Roosters) place for Steve's
50th before we return to France. I'm planning to ride my bike out, hence the
rotten weather at the moment.
*********Drew,
if you manage to read this I got your message but don't have your email address
to reply, can you contact us again please. If anyone else sees Drew (aka Martin)
in Elounda can you let him know about this message on the Notice board, cheers!

28/12/07: A belated Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year. I apologise for the lack of updates but we still haven't got our
own ISP and are relying on friends and Internet Cafes. For those of you who
haven't heard we have relocated to France, stopping temporarily at Chez Rae as
seen on the website. We will be looking for our own place in the New Year. We
will still be visiting Elounda and still have our caravan at Vlihadia so the
Cretan link continues, the French side will just be developed more than it is at
present. Now our laptops are wi fi enabled I should be able to do a bit more
work on the site. Cheers everybody and thanks to our friends in Crete who are
keeping an eye on things (my bike, postbox etc.) for us.
23/10/07: We
will be offline for a few weeks until we get a new Internet Service Provider so
there won't be any updates for awhile. Watch this page for more
details....
25/09/07: Christine has had
to return to England for a week or so as her step dad, Bernard, died on Saturday
night. He had been ill for a long while but it is still a shock to the system.
Our thoughts are with Christine's mum, Barbara. I used to enjoy a Sunday
pint or two with Bernard when he was more able, I'll miss him
too.
05/09/07 I'm back, sacre bleu, it's still hot and humid and the bugs
are biting. They must have missed me; every night I drink alcohol and every
night the bugs drink my alcohol fueled blood, I must be like a local bar to
them, no wonder they hardly bite Christine. The UK was fine, weather OK, traffic
a nightmare, beer good, walking good, QPR game cancelled but managed to watch
Oldham (thanks Dave) and helped my dad re-felt his (only one) shed roof. France
was fine too, helped reduce the wine lake as per usual, good company, good food
and chilled - long live La Commune de La Pierre
Levee!
23/07/07: Well I'm off back to
the UK tomorrow and not returning for a month. I'll also be spending 18 days in
France at Chez Rae's (see our French page) so it looks like the Piccy of the
Week will be Piccy of the Month for August! I'll also be catching a Burnley game
(v QPR, exciting fixture :-) which hopefully will be entertaining. So it's au
revoir from me and here's hoping the rains stop. Bon vacances!!
19/07/07:
I seem to be getting more hits now, but not a lot of feedback.. I'd appreciate
to hear suggestions to improve the site; use the feedback form, guestbook or
whatever and don't be embarrassed, it's a learning curve for me
too.
26/06/07: I'm thinking of going to the Sahara to
get away from the heatwave. I always leave Crete in August to avoid the hottest
month but this year June is hotter than August was last year! Temps in the mid
40's (over 110 'F). I'll still be having my 'sabbatical' leaving Christine to
soldier on whilst I lounge in Limousin in August so the site will be put on hold
for a while.
19/04/07: Zdravey! Just got back from
visiting friends in Bulgaria. It was a hell of a drive, 16 hours actual driving
time plus stops and the ferry. The Bulgarian countryside was lovely, the Sofia
ringroad was hell, and Bulgarian drivers have a deathwish.
28/03/07:
Somebody please leave a message on our Guestbook, I'm fed up of looking at my
orig message. The Guestbook is on the Sitemap page (brown
door!)
27/03/07: Unfortunately our desktop crashed last week and the
hard drive had to be reformatted. Most stuff had been backed up but not our
emails and address book. I've had lots of earache over this so if you've emailed
us recently (in the last month) can you resend it and even if you haven't
mailed us recently please drop us a line so we can put you back in our address
book (Hello Auntie Pat and Anne!).
